Halloween!

Our class had their Halloween party today!  We had a lot of fun and ate way too many sugary treats!

In addition to watching Halloween themed videos and snacking, we decorated our own pumpkins!

Thanks to a generous donation by Doylene Garvey, every student their very own pumpkin to paint!

One of my students was sick, so I painted him up one and delivered the pumpkin and some treats to his home. :-)

The finished pumpkins drying out side :-)

TELLURIDE!

Today, our class went to Telluride!  We had an awesome time!  We learned about a lot of Telluride history on our trip.
Walking the streets of Telluride!

Listening to our guide before our walk about.

The Galloping Goose!  The Galloping Goose was the only way to reach many of the cities in Colorado.  It was the only passenger car that ran along the rail lines.

This button, and others,, can be found in what was the original hotel dining room. Each private table was enclosed within privacy curtains. If the diners want service, they would push the button for a server to appear.

During the Telluride boom, the Sheridan Opera House was the only venue for entertainment. Inside you can still see much of the original fixtures. Now, the Opera house holds plays, movies, concerts, and dances.

The Mahr bank-While they were sitting in a local saloon, Butch Cassidy and his gang, cased this bank for a few days  prior to robbing it. They knew that the payroll money to pay the miners would be there.

The Telluride Mining Museum was an interesting stop on our tour!  We saw a lot of vintage mining equipment and learned how they powered the equipment with steam or water wheels.

Our guide, instructing my students on how a water wheel works.

Our guide then gave us the task to build our own water wheel!  With a partner, my students put together their wheel and then they tested them with spraying water. Competition was fierce!
